Britton and Pugin's Illustrations of the Public Buildings of London was a landmark work on the key buildings of London. Featuring both well loved and lesser known buildings by some of the greatest architects of their day, including Christopher Wren, Nicholas Hawksmoor, John Nash, Decimus Burton, Inigo Jones, George Dance and John Soane, the volumes provide both architectural and historical detail on each of the buildings and are accompanied by Augustus Pugin's magnificent drawings of the facades, plans, interiors, architectural details, etc. Among the buildings featured are St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, the Banqueting House, Temple Church, Bank of England, the Law Courts, Regent's Park Terraces, and Freemasons' Hall, amongst many others. The term 'street architecture' was first coined in these two volumes. Now rare, these important volumes are reissued in a larger format with a new introduction by a leading contemporary scholar.

"Minds Alive explores the enduring role and intrinsic value of libraries, archives, and public institutions in the digital age. Featuring international contributors, this volume delves into libraries and archives as institutions and institutional partners, the professional responsibilities of librarians and archivists, and the ways in which librarians and archivists continue to respond to the networked age, digital culture, and digitization. The endless possibilities and robust importance of libraries and archives are at the heart of this optimistic collection. Topics include: transformations in the networked digital age; Indigenous issues and challenges in custodianship, ownership and access; the importance of the harmonization of memory institutions today; and the overarching significance of libraries and archives in the public sphere. Libraries and archives - at once public institutions providing both communal and private havens of discovery - are being repurposed and transformed in intercultural contexts. Only by keeping pace with users' changing needs can they continue to provide the richest resources of an informed citizenry."--

"Contemporary Museum Architecture and Design showcases eighteen diverse essays written by people who design, work in, and study museums, offering a variety of perspectives on this complex building type. Throughout, the authors emphasize new kinds of experiences that museum architecture helps create, connecting ideas about design at various levels of analysis, from thinking about how the building sits in the city to exploring the details of technology. With sections focusing on museums as architectural icons, community engagement through design, the role of gallery spaces in the experience of museums, disability experiences, and sustainable design for museums, the collected chapters cover topics both familiar and fresh to those interested in museum architecture. Featuring over 150 color illustrations, this book celebrates successful museum architecture whilst the critical analysis sheds light on important issues to consider in museum design. Written by an international range of museum administrators, architects, and researchers this collection is an essential resource for understanding the social impacts of museum architecture and design for professionals, students, and museum-lovers alike"--
